@Romaine: Some mistake here, I've never taken part in this contest before. --Belbury (talk) 07:57, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Gemma Coleman: can you respond? Romaine (talk) 08:39, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
If I had to guess what's happened here, it's possible that I've uploaded a cropped version of somebody else's Wiki Loves Earth photo, with croptool leaving the templates and categories intact. Belbury (talk) 08:44, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi Belbury - apologies, it's my first year helping with this competition and it's possible things have gone awry! My colleague has got your details from a tool called Quarry which runs a search for people listed as having previously submitted an entry for a past Wiki Loves photo competition. Having checked with my colleague, they think that it's right that the query has worked this out by looking for people who have submitted photos under certain categories associated with the Wiki Loves competitions so your explanation sounds very plausible. Sorry for any confusion, I'll try to refine things for next time! Gemma Coleman (WMUK) (talk) 08:29, 11 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Delete images that you upload

[edit]

Dear Belbury and respected editors, Thank you for your feedback. The purpose of uploading these images is educational; to show the stages of growth and development of ordinary Iranian boys, similar to many other images available on Wikimedia Commons. All individuals depicted have given permission for their photos to be used for educational purposes. These images are not personal files for my private use but have been uploaded solely as educational resources. As I mentioned before, these images are created for education and realistic representation, with no intent other than to contribute to public knowledge and Wikimedia projects. I hope this clarifies my intent, and I appreciate your cooperation and guidance. Please let me know if further clarification is needed. Best regards, wikiakas Wikiakas (talk) 14:51, 16 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Wikiakas: Per COM:NOTUSED, An image does not magically become useful by virtue of the argument that it could be used to illustrate a Wikipedia article on X, merely because X happens to be the subject of the photograph. Commons doesn't host personal photos, even if they could theoretically be used to show what a person of that age and nationality looked like in a particular year. Oh come on

How is it copyright? Astrawiki3203 (talk) 15:45, 16 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I mean it’s on Pinterest for a reason you can use any image on there Astrawiki3203 (talk) 15:45, 16 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Astrawiki3203: Public domain is a specific concept in copyright. An image being freely available to look at on a website isn't the same thing. Belbury (talk) 15:51, 16 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Image AI upscaled

[edit]

Hello. I would like to ask how I can check if File:240902 Kim Hye Yoon (김혜윤).png, File:240925 Kim Hye-yoon (김혜윤).png, File:240604 Kim Hye yoon(김혜윤).png, File:240608 Kim Hye Yoon (김혜윤).png and File:240902 Kim Hye-Yoon (김혜윤).png are AI upscaled? Resurehtonatsuj (talk) 17:32, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Resurehtonatsuj: Where it's from a YouTube video, comparing it to the original source is a good first step. Belbury (talk) 17:42, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Is it possible for you to spare some time to check it out? I'm still a pretty new user so there might be some disagreement if I were to point it out. Resurehtonatsuj (talk) 17:46, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Resurehtonatsuj: Not really, try the Commons:Help Desk if you need some help. Belbury (talk) 17:59, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thank you. Resurehtonatsuj (talk) 18:03, 28 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
